Tutors being Tutored

Scene during the workshop seemingly a novel idea, but sometimes, even tutors need a review on how to do certain things in certain disciplines. 2 weeks ago, there was a workshop within the sandbox that was only for sandbox employees to review how Swing in Java works. Swing is an extremely flexible library used for creating graphical user interfaces in Java. However, since there is a direct relationship between flexibility and complexity, it has a bit of a learning curve. The elaborate structure behind swing is easy to forget if you haven’t used it in a while.

Observer Winter 2012

Shortly after we opened the CIS Sandbox last fall, Caleb Cochran from the Bentley Observer asked if we could do a photoshoot of the CIS Sandbox to give people a sense of our new space. The panoramic result above appears in the Winter 2012 Bentley Observer magazine.

The photo shoot was scheduled just before Thanksgiving, so it was quiet in the Sandbox that day, as many students had already made plans to go home for the holiday. We mustered up a few students to help out with the photo shoot.
