Another Successful Open House at the CIS Sandbox

We had another successful Open House at the CIS Sandbox yesterday! Approximately 100 people visited our lab to see the good work that CIS students and Sandbox assistants are doing. Many thanks to all your support!

“In addition to CIS, faculty from Math, English, and Management stopped by. Amanda King, special advisor to the President, came in Gloria’s absence, and carefully went from station to station speaking to each student about the work that he or she was demonstrating. Gordon Hardy, Director of Bentley Marketing and Communications also visited. Staff from Systems and Networks, Client Services, Exec Ed, the library, Alumni services, admissions, and advising checked out the projects that our students are doing.

Kudos to Tim Miller for his demo of the iPhone navigation app, Vinay and Anu for getting the Kinect to work, Kunal for his popular big data visualization demo using Spotfire, Nick for getting the video loop working on YouTube, and Nick and Conner for their queuing app that participants found way cool. Connor, Ethan, Jim, Sam, Matt, Alican, Katie, Hailin, Dmitry, and Nick also helped with the event. Thanks also to Dan Sheehan who loaned us his Microsoft Surface for visitors to play with, and it was in use pretty much constantly.”
