CIS Sandbox HTML5 Game Design Contest

construct 2
Have some free time over Thanksgiving break? Want to use technology to make something fun and creative? We at the CIS Sandbox are holding a contest for basic game design!

If you attended the event on Wednesday, November 14, you know that Microsoft presented Construct 2, an HTML5-based development tool for 2D game design. Game design using Java is hard (I know; I tried), but the great thing about Construct 2 is that there is no programming required. Using a graphical user interface, you can place objects, insert sounds and images, and create event triggers without having to learn or use any formal programming languages. The code you need is generated automatically behind the scenes.

If you want to participate in the contest, these are the ground rules:

  • Your game must be made using the Construct 2 development tool.
  • Your game must be saved as a .capx file and sent to somma_matt@bentley.edu OR posted to your web.bentley.edu/it.bentley.edu account. If you post it to your account make sure you still send us the link!
  • The deadline for submission is Monday, November 26 at midnight (12:00 AM.)

Other than those rules, you can make whatever kind of game you want to make. The games will be presented at the CIS Sandbox Open House on Thursday, November 29th at 3:30-5:00 PM, and the winner will be chosen at that event. The winner will receive a $50 gift card to Amazon!

Oh, and by the way, the first person who uploads a Construct 2 game to the Windows 8 store will win an Xbox, courtesy of Microsoft.

Have fun!
