Bentley’s Association for Information Systems Student Chapter competed this weekend at the 2013-2014 Association for Information System Student Conference at Arizona State University. Brendan Colford, Alina Usmanov, and Mac Segura-Cook competed in the IT Security track where they placed third behind Utah State University (2nd), and Brigham Young University (1st). The competition involved presenting a solution to a panel of professionals and academics to improve the internal controls of a large company to strategigcally align IT with the business while becoming compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley.
Along with the competition the team was given the oppurtunity to hear speeches from the CIO of Fender, Michael Spandau, Steve Phillips, the CIO of Avnet, a large computer product distributor, and Pete Jorgenson, VP of PetSmart. There were also presentations from other student chapters from around the world about their chapters and their school’s Information Systems departments.
The Association for Information Systems is a new student organization on campus that tailors to CIS, ISAC, IDCC, and IPM majors and minors. The student chapter competes in case competions, host technology networking events, as well as other events for professional development.
