The ATC has a glass window. The Trading Room has a glass wall. The CMT has lots of windows. The Usability and Design Center across the hall from us on the first floor of Smith has a glass-paneled entry way. The CIS Lab in Smith 234 didn’t have any glass.
We tried putting in a window on the far wall, but blasting through the building turned out not to be a good idea. We looked into getting a window to get some natural light in from the stairwell, and are still waiting on an estimate. There’s a special kind of glass that needs to be used that’s fire resistant, and strong enough.
Today as part of the renovations, we have a new door with a large glass pane. You can see inside Smith 234. It’s a small thing, but an important one to make people feel welcome when they look inside.
