What’s new with Windows 10?

Microsoft has announced the release of Windows 10. Yes they’re skipping 9, and for good reasons too! They want to signify that it is a big change and that it will work across platforms, also they don’t want people to search for “Windows 9” and have old information about Windows 95, Windows 98, and so on to come up. Windows 10 will run on PC’s, tablets, smartphones, and eventually the Xbox as well. Each one will be slightly customized for the device it’s running on, but the app stores will be combined into one singular Windows Store.

Microsoft is planning on delivering Windows 10 by “spring 2015” as leaked by Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s head of Operating Systems Group. Also leaked are a few changes from Windows 8. The start menu will be brought back and used alongside the charms bar. Ultimately Microsoft is aiming at upgrading Windows 7 users to Windows 10 since Windows 8 hasn’t been popular on PC’s as it is mainly customized for tablets and smartphones. They are hoping this will be a big update for all devices and will help users use their devices by having everything running the same software.
