Soluto is a multi-functional application that analyzes your computer’s boot (start-up) time and provides suggestions for how to decrease it. Recently, it added functionality to track application crashes and lighten the load on your web browser.
And the best part? It’s free and easy to use!
The main screen looks like this:
By simply placing your mouse over one of the three options (the text surrounded by the circle), the application will bring you to the proper screen.
I chose the “Chop Boot” option, which allows me to select individual applications and disable them at start-up. This screen splits up your computer’s boot into three sections: No-brainer; Potentially removable; and Cannot be removed with Solution.
I dragged my mouse over to the first block of green in the No-brainer section, and Soluto provided me with details about Pointing Device. Soluto now gives me the option to Pause or Delay. Pause stops the application from running and only allows it to run when the user declares. Delay postpones the application’s start until the computer is in an idle state.
My boot currently takes 2 minutes and 51 seconds. It used to be a lot longer.
Soluto is a great solution for the tech-savvy and less-so alike, whether you want to analyze your boot in depth or simply make your computer start a bit faster. Check it out at: Soluto.com.
